I have a .308 Remington 700 AAC-SD I plan to us as a host. I'm trying to choose between a Thunder Beast 30P-1 and a Liberty Freedom. Both are well rated but have weight and price differences. I will be shooting mostly from the bench. Eventually I hope to go long range.I currently only have a Liberty Constitution for my .223 and .22lr. Help me choose between the two .308 cans.

My vote is for the Liberty Freedom. The square bores inside are just wicked! :P

I would recommend that you spend the 30 bucks to access the premium content on silencerresearch.com.

He has tests of both of the cans you listed.

I have no first-hand experience with either of these two cans, but according to the results posted on Silencer Research the Liberty looks like the better choice. Approximately the same weight and price as the AAC Cyclone and nearly as quiet.

I'd just get the Cyclone. In fact, I did.

Sure is.

The "K" is also worth looking at. Many people overlook it. It makes a better multi host can being lighter and shorter. the 2-3 db is worth it to me since you need hearing protection anyway from the sonic crack. My "K" spends time on my M700 in 6.5-08, M700 in 308, M16 in 5.56, and my AR15 also in 5.56

I'm pretty sure Thunderbeast upgraded the 30p-1 since that 2008 test.

Me and a customer recently shot the Cyclone and 30P-1 side by side on 20" bolt guns (.308) with the same ammo. Neither of us could tell a difference in sound reduction. They were both just a little quieter than my older SCAR-H SD. (to our ears)

"Lastly we shot the ThunderBeast 30-P

the group was centered up well in the 10 and 9 ring and was definitely the tightest of the 3 suppressors. Ray’s quote to was “accuracy first”, he went to say, and I know, “we are shooters first so the accuracy has to be on.

The Sound meter numbers were:
140+ for the first shot
134.7
134.6
134.9

for an average reduction of 27.08"

The Cyclone K is the shorter lighter one and has 27-29 dB makes it w WIN WIN for me.
