i'm going to load 8.8 of VV n110 behind hornady's 225's tonight ... this will be for a bolt gun only ...16" barrel...

got the recipe from a friend of mine .. nice and quiet in his bolt gun! we'll see!

update .. 8.8 g of VV n110 was trans-sonic in my gun .. so I backed off to 8.3 and it's now nice and quiet .. I didn't chrono but I was able to shoot around 1.5" group at 100 yards the other day ... so they seem accurate

Where? I can't seem to find it here. Nothing turns up in the search.

The image you posted does not show. Just says "Image" in post.

I assume this is the correct thread?

Yes, that is it.

Maybe your web browser does not show PNGs. Everyone else can see it.

I see it now. Had to tweak my Firefox browser for whatever reason. Thanks.

Is there any data on using H110 for these bullets(110gr Vmax)? I've got a few pounds of it expressly for Blackout.

Have you loaded the Nosler 220gr Partition bullet subsonic?

Nothing official yet. Hodgdon told me they will be done with the data in a few weeks.

I would load the bullet to 2.068 OAL.

Has anyone worked out various safe loads that would make major in three gun out of a 10 inch barrel?

I believe there is a 175gr major load out of a 16 inch barrel. . .

Take a 220 MK and load it to 2.245 OAL (or at least never longer than 2.26 OAL).

Use A1680 powder, and drive it to 1500 fps.

Is this safe? I don't know. Western reached a higher velocity in a 16 inch barrel, so try their load in your 10 inch barrel.

Wasn't sure if this post belongs here or as a new topic but I'm having problems with my subsonic loads. I have a Noveske 14.5in upper with an H1 buffer and a 762SD can. Remeington factory subsonic loads work perfectly and velocities are averaging 1040fps. My loads weekly cycle the action and won't hold the bolt open after the last round and they are supersonic. There are no signs of pressure.

Rem brass
Rem 7 1/2 primer
220gr SMK
OAL - same as factory load
Cronograph is at 15ft with a blast shield
75 degree day

11.0 gr 1680 - 1140fps
11.2 gr 1680 - 1165fps
11.5 gr 1680 - 1180fps

On the 300 Blackout website, it states that 11.2 gr 0f 1680 reproduces factory ammo characteristics. I have seen on this thread that some use 10.0 to 10.2 gr of 1680 for their subsonic loads. I assume that if I go this low to reach subsonic velocities, my gun would stop cyling altogether. I could try a standard buffer. But, the gun runs fine full auto and semi auto the way it's set up now with the factory stuff and the H1 buffer. I have quite a bit of 1680 and would like to stick with it if I can. Any advice would be appreciated. If I have to switch powders, any suggested loads?

(BTW - for those of you who are wondering, Hornady factory 110 gr ammo velocity is consistently at 2325fps.)

It does not say that. It says to start at 11.2 grains and adjust as needed.

You are correct....start at 11.2..... If I go down with the charge weight, won't that cause decreased cycling energy? At 11.0, my bolt already won't stay open after the last shot...

I was just addressing the velocity issue. I don't know about the bolt hold open.

Has anyone loaded for these bullets-

Hornady 110gr Vmax

Sierra 110 gr HP

Sierra 110 gr Spitzer

Nosler Partition 220 gr

I can't find any load data on these but I'd image the first three would be about the same. I know people are loading for the V-max but I can't seem to locate any data.

I'm new to the 300 Blackout but it looks like a really promising round and it's subsonic suppressed capability has me impressed. I'm running a 9" barrel with pistol length gas from Delta Arms. Can't say enough good things about Delta.

Thanks in advance!

My 9" aac upper gets here tues 19 Jul. I have converted LC cases from bradswarehouse and was gonna test some 110 gr Barnes TTSX bullets. I planned to load oal to 2.025 in and start with 18 gr of H110 and increment up to 20.5 thru my ced millennium 2 chronograph.

Here's the real question...with all the excitement about this offering since oct of last year, when is there gonna be published data for it????? You'd think if backyard hackers could come up with load data the powder and bullet manufacturers could have a long time ago. Maybe I shouldnt think out loud?

4198 seems ok also, but use the H version.

Any particular reason why?

The reason I ask is wideners has bulk Swiss powder that is basically IMR 4198, but I don't know the differences between the H version and IMR.

H has 1/2 the stick size. IMR has less hope of metering.

The Swiss stuff you are speaking of could be either.

Thanks Robert.

What is your preferred sub-sonic powder?

So far A1680 or RE7 for ARs and seems like 4198 is about the same but I have not done much testing.

1/4oz of RDX works nicely for supersonic. It will get a 220g up around 3,000 fps if you compress it reaaal good!
